So Afrolicious: Aija Reine and The Next Aisle

Aija Reine, my dear friend Olayide Oseni’s clothing line, is nothing but gorgeous!

She writes that she finds her inspiration from African culture, describing her muse, ankara as “a daring, confident, and glamorous woman who speaks volumes through her presence and sensuality. These pieces represent the symphony of tradition fused with an avant-garde.”

Certainly you can feel the confidence the models have wearing these down the runway!

Olaide also runs an online boutique called The Next Aisle (busy woman!) with exquisite pieces of jewelry.  Don’t take my word for it:

Afrolicious Presents: Ankara & Lace

Finally it’s here! Today we launch Ankara & Lace: a line of bold and beautiful jewelry and accessories.

Ankara & Lace is an expression of those who identify as bold and beautiful. This winter, we offer pieces made from Dutch wax fabrics known as ankara as well as modern kente prints. We also have accessories made from parts of lace used in the beautiful outfits worn in many West African countries. There are earrings and bracelets, brooches and shoe clips, and many more to come.

The shop opens up on Monday, December 6, 2010; however, this weekend at Cupcakes & Conversation we’ll be giving an exclusive preview to attendees.
