I spent my holiday weekend reflecting and feeding my spirit with Erykah Badu’s lecture at Red Bull Music Academy. Her albums were always playing on my bus rides to and from school, so it’s interesting to hear the background stories to these songs that defined part of my early coming-to-self. I love that she is honest in her music and insists on remaining honest throughout her career. A true artist. Enjoy!
Dubstep and I are lovers. I remember the first time I heard it, standing in a sweaty dance hall somewhere in the shady part of Hollywood and feeling the bass seep through my skin, swim through my blood and kiss my bones.
My bones, y’all. I felt that music in my bones.
Joker’s a big name in dubstep, and for good reason. His latest “The Vision” is 12 tracks strong. Check out the single of the same name in the video after the jump.
Check out my friend Tolu Noah in this gorgeous video below!

Hey Los Angeles! Epic Thanks is coming to you straight from Tanzania this year. Epic Change is an organization that’s close to my heart. I’ve worked with them in the past to do pretty epic things, and this time? Things got a lot more epic.
Two children from Shepherd’s Jr. school in Tanzania, along with Mama Lucy are making their way out to Los Angeles. Thanks to miracle spurred on by Stacey and Sanjay’s wish to bring them overseas, we’ll have the amazing chance to meet a part of Shepherd’s Jr.
I’m too excited for words! But here’s the important information: if you are in Los Angeles next week Friday at 7:00pm, you should totally join us at the W Hollywood. You must register at this link: http://epicthanks-losangeles.eventbrite.com/.
I hope to see my LA family out there next week. Ciao!
